Quick note on '07 Quill Awards: And Unsung Heroes

The Quill Awards will be announced October 10th, 2007.

What about those people who aren't nominated though? The unsung heroes of the literary world--you know them by name actually. They are you, your neighbor, your child, your uncle. These people who will jot down a few words and walk away. These few million children who struggle to put thoughts down on paper in the classroom. They are afflicted with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and so much more. Still, they try. They write.

Encourage these aspiring writers. Support them and read their work--even if it's just one, simple, seemingly non-sensical message. For, to them, it is art. You will have given a thousand gifts to one person if you simply applaud their efforts and pay attention. All they are seeking is interest not necessarily approval of what it is they have written. The mere fact that they have tried and are trying is worthy of praise.
